Matthew Carroll has been serving as the Director of Market Development for the International
Union of Elevator Constructors Local One. He joined the trade in 1998��and dedicated his life
to the Elevator Constructors and climbed his way through the ranks.
As an organizer, Carroll has been instrumental in attracting over 35��companies to partner with
Local One. He has had a complete understanding of how to operate an elevator company
which allowed him to fi nd common ground with potential signatories.
Carroll received his education from Cornell Labor Studies program and continued to educate
himself and focus on emerging markets.
His inspiration has been to be involved in organized labor stems from witnessing his mother’s
involvement in the Flight Attendants Union CWA. Carroll attended countless labor functions
as a child and recognized the power of collective bargaining immediately.
When Carroll is not advocating on behalf of his members, he has enjoyed spending quality
time with his family on Long Island.
