Dr. Douglas L. York has been serving as Chief Executive Offi cer of Union Community Health
Center. He has been a healthcare executive for over 25��years. His career is highlighted by his
leadership of hospitals, health centers, and physician practice corporations, serving as the
executive for leading trauma centers, general hospitals, as well as behavioral and correctional
health care facilities.
Dr. York has specialized in coordinating distressed facility evaluations and organizational
reengineering initiatives in response to or in preparation of changes in healthcare policy and
or reimbursement, and has done so for several hospital and medical centers in the New York
tri-state area.
His Bronx roots stem from both his parents being born and raised within walking distance of
Union Hospital, where they received their healthcare as children. Today Dr. York runs the legacy
institution that kept them healthy.
He is an active faculty member in both the medical school and school of health policy and
practice at New York Medical College. His current teaching focuses on the current and future
clinical, fi nancial, and health policy impact of COVID-19.
Dr. York serves on the Board of Directors for the Community Health Care Association of New
York State and Policy Committees for the National Association of Community Health Centers.
He collaborates directly with local, state, and federal elected offi cials on public health policy
and fi nancing issues, frequently providing audiences with pre and post-impact assessments.
Dr. York has worked directly with the Department of Veterans Affairs and has participated on
White House Task Force initiatives for special populations.
