Sharika Gordon has been a Human Resources professional with almost 20 years of
experience in healthcare. Her wide-range of expertise includes Talent Acquisition, Labor and
Employee Relations, Organizational Development and Learning, Benefits & Compensation.
She began her career as a Nursing Systems and Financial Analyst Manager for Catholic
Medical Centers of Queens, later transitioning to the Human Resources Department as a
Nurse Recruiter. In 2002, she held the position of Regional Director of Human Resources for
St. Vincent Catholic Medical Centers, Brooklyn & Queens.
In 2010, Gordon joined St. John’s Episcopal Hospital/Episcopal Health Services Inc.
as Vice President of Human Resources and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)–a
position she currently holds today. Gordon has been responsible for the Human Resources
function throughout the health system, inclusive of Benefits and Compensation, Labor and
Employee Relations, Organizational Learning and Development, HRIS, Talent Acquisition, and
Employee Health and Wellness. She has credited her amazing team for the organization’s HR
accomplishments.
Her leadership has been a driving force behind employees’ personal and professional growth,
the organization’s diversity and inclusion practices, and employee performance management.
She was also a part of the hospital’s strategic responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Besides her contributions to the healthcare industry, she has led the creation of the
organization’s Employee Wellness initiative, and has established recognition awards for
employee excellence. Under her guidance, the hospital’s Organizational Development team
created a Leadership Academy for all leaders in the organization that will allow them to
further develop their leadership skills. Gordon holds a master’s degree in Human Resources
Management. She is a native of Akron, Ohio and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY with her
husband and two sons.
