Dr. Laura Iavicoli is the Emergency Department Emergency Associate Director, Quality
Director, and Sexual Assault Response Team Medical Director. She is a Board Certified
Emergency Medicine physician with special expertise in Emergency Management.
Employed in Elmhurst Hospital, a teaching affiliate of Mount Sinai Medical center for 20 years,
training and teaching Emergency Medicine Residents, Internal Medicine Residents, and
Medical Students in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Iavicoli served on numerous hospital, local, and
national committees devoted to emergency management issues.
She attended more than 90 specialty seminars and training sessions in emergency
preparedness over a 20-year period. She gave over 80 presentations to hospital staff on
topics pertaining to disaster preparedness, including; terrorism, mass casualties, blast
injuries, psychiatric effects, decon, protective equipment, et al. Dr. Iavicoli was also a disaster
relief team member for more than 10 years for NYC and the Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA). She is currently the Senior Associate Vice President for Emergency
Management for Health and Hospital System
