For Juan Antonio Rodriguez, McDonald’s did not just provide a job, but rather it graced him
with a 32-year career as one of the most philanthropic and compassionate McDonald’s owner
operators of his time. After coming to the U.S. from Puerto Rico, Rodriguez arrived in New
York and attended Kingsborough Community College. As a college student, he worked at a
McDonald’s in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn.
Looking for change, Rodriguez made the decision to pursue law enforcement with the NYPD
for several years. But as fate would have it, the golden “arch” opportunity knocked. And
in 1988, Rodriguez purchased his fi rst McDonald’s restaurant in the Bronx. Fast forward
32years later, he now proudly owns 14McDonald’s restaurants in the Bronx and Manhattan.
Rodriguez supports many non-profi t organizations and community programs. He has been a
living testament to McDonald’s founder, Ray Kroc, whose philosophy was, “None of Us is As
Good as All of Us,”. Rodriguez received the Business Leadership Award for the National Puerto
Rican Day Parade Committee, the Long Island Hispanic Business Person of the Year, the
New York State Businessman of the Year, the United Negro College Fund Meritorious Service
Award for distinguished volunteer services, the 40th Precinct Community Council Award, and
the Bronx Hispanic Chamber of Commerce recognition award for his annual sponsorship of
the Three Kings Day event at his restaurant. Rodriguez has been proud to support and create
community initiatives that resonate in making a difference in the lives of children and their
KINGS OF THE BRONX
families in the Bronx.
