Stanley K. Schlein, Esq. has been a specialist in governmental relations; land use, zoning,
construction and development law. He has also maintained a rigorous practice representing
various and signifi cant business entities, incumbent elected offi cials, and candidates for public
offi ce in election law and general corporate litigation.
Schlein has a balanced, bipartisan, and broad government affairs practice with decades of
experience working with the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government navigating
the challenges posed by the interplay of laws, public policy, regulation, competition,
and economic trends across the fi elds regulated by the state and local jurisdictions. He has
also served as special and/or of counsel to the fi rms of Finley Kumble Wagner et.al., Whitman
& Ransom, et. seq. Prior to his private practice, Schlein held various governmental positions,
including but not limited to, Counsel to the New York State Assembly Election Law Committee,
Member and Chairman of the New York City Civil Service Commission, Special Advisor to
Mayor Edward I. Koch (NYC), and Legislative Counsel and Chief of Staff to the New York City
Council.
Schlein received his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in 1972and his Bachelor of Science
from New York University in 1969.
Schlein is admitted to the State Bar of New York, United States Appellate Court for the Second
Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of
