Angie Thrapsimis has been serving as an Academic Advisor for the School of Liberal Arts at
Manhattan College. She has been committed to dedicating her life in creating positive and
enriching learning environments for young people of all ages; and providing students with a
solid educational foundation where they can meet and exceed their potential.
Thrapsimis returned to her beloved Greek Orthodox Church Zoodohos Peghe and the Greek
American Institute K-8 School where she was the 4th grade teacher, Elementary School
Coordinator, and Principal appointed “Mentor Teacher”.
As the Academic Advisor for the School of Liberal Arts at Manhattan College, Thrapsimis has
worked with students to help them develop academic, career, personal and life goals, and
create a clear path to achieve them.
Angie was born, raised, and educated in the Bronx. Through Opportunity Programs, she
was able to attend Fordham University and Manhattan College, where she earned her B.A in
Secondary Education and Spanish and Greek; M.A. in Counseling; and M.S. Ed in Childhood
Education and Special Education. She also attended the Lasallian Social Justice Institute –
Civil Rights.
She participated in social justice immersion programs which provide opportunities for
students to learn about justice issues in the communities that are most impacted by them.
Two years in a row, Thrapsimis was the moderator and advisor for a group of students and
spent ten days on the Blackfeet Indian reservation in Montana working directly with the DLS
middle school and with the Blackfeet community.
