NUHEALTH FOUNDATION
Linda Walsh started her career at Nassau University Medical Center 38��years ago as a Certifi
ed Therapeutic Recreation Specialist providing Therapy to the Pediatric Population and Child
Psychiatry patients. As her career at NUMC continued she became the Director of the Department
Therapeutic Recreation and Volunteer Services and Employee Recreation. Walsh ran
many of the hospital events like Take your Child to Work Day, Teddy Bear Hospital Day, Trick
or Treat Street and the Annual Children’s Holiday Party to name a few, and also assisted in the
hospital fundraisers.
In 2015��Walsh retired from her position to become the Executive Director of the NuHealth
Foundation, the fundraising arm of Nassau Health Care Corporation, spearheading efforts and
raised much needed funds for NuHealth which has served the uninsured and underinsured
population of Nassau County with Black Tie Events, Golf Outings, community Grants, and
more.
When the COVID-19��crisis started, Walsh worked in partnership with NUMC’s legal department,
CSEA, and the Nassau County Communities to focus on much needed support for
those on the front lines taking care of the patients as well as support for the patients and their
families. Through these efforts they were able to secure much needed PPE, iPads to help increase
communication with patients and their loved ones, food and beverages to support the
staff around the clock, as well as monetary donations.
With COVID-19��still a threat, she has been learning to do things differently while still fulfi lling
NuHealth’s Mission to take care of the underprivileged and underserved community and foster
employees’ pride in their work.
