YASA MADE WITH LOVE FOUNDATION
Athena Castro has been serving as the CEO of YASA Made with Love Foundation, which is a
program that has supported developmentally disabled adults. The Day program has offered
the opportunity to build life skills, and help disabled adults reach their personal goals.
Castro started working at YASA in 2018. Prior to YASA, she was the Director of a daycare
center in Westbury. Her life passion has always been to help others, and at YASA, she has
been given the opportunity to help those ladies and gentlemen reach their maximum potential.
To see their happy faces every day when she has walked into work is the best part of her
day. While working at YASA, Castro was also part of the committee that founded the YASA
Made With Love Foundation. At YASA Made with Love Foundation, they have raised funds
and helped families, children, and individuals with disabilities; whether it’s a new wheelchair
that they can’t afford, or any day to day necessities that they need and just can’t provide for
themselves.
Throughout Castro’s life, she has always wanted to be a part of a greater good, and help
others. She has three children, Two boys and a girl, and her husband and she has always
preached to them how lucky they are to have what they have and we need to be humble and
help others.
It’s not about what you have, it’s about what you can do to help others and bring a smile to
their faces. Objects lose value, get broken, and get lost, however a memory for someone’s life
you touched, will be forever.
She has been living in Westbury, NY with her husband and three children.
