TOWNE CELLARS LIQUORS & WINES
Amanda Swenson Pawlowski has been serving as CEO for Towne Cellars Liquors &
Wines. She was born into an Army family in Wiesbaden, Germany, and is the youngest of
four daughters and a son. Early life created a strong bond within the family that included
developing a deep sense of purpose and individuality, the makings of a power woman!
After living in Germany, Korea, and three different states, Pawlowski’s father retired and the
family settled in East Moriches. She attended Westhampton Beach High School and after
graduation attended Boston University for one year.
Pawlowski’s adventurous spirit kicked in and she transferred to the University of Colorado
in Boulder where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Biology.
After college, she relocated to San Francisco where her long career in the food and beverage
industry began. It was through many trips to Napa, Sonoma, and Carneros Valley that
Pawlowski’s love and appreciation of wine was born. Upon her return to New York, she
worked in some of the most highly rated restaurants in the city, including Craft Restaurant,
Gotham Bar & Grill, Le Bernardin, and Craft Steak.
Concurrently, Pawlowski studied with the Wine and Spirit Education Trust, earning a Level 4
Diploma in Wine. In 2008 Pawlowski took over Towne Cellars Wine & Liquors from her sister,
Michele Rubenstein, who opened the store in 2002. The store has won Dan’s Paper Best of
the Best and has been entered into Dan’s Hall of Fame.
Amanda and her husband, Bill, keep busy with their daughters, Zoe (8) and Vivienne (6), and
their dogs Jake & Greta.
