Claire Patterson is a Senior Associate Executive Director at Elmhurst charged with leading our
DSRIP efforts to reform the healthcare delivery system.
Patterson’s diverse and expansive experience in healthcare has been serving her well as she
has undertaken her new role as CHRO. In this role, Patterson reports to the Chief Executive
Officer and works in direct partnership with the Patient Safety Officer and Elmhurst’s Senior
Management Team to provide leadership and develop Elmhurst’s High Reliability Organization
journey.
Patterson is responsible for developing standardization across Elmhurst to continuously
improve consistency, timeliness, effectiveness, efficiency, and patient-centeredness of
healthcare services. She has worked to ensure the principles of Integrity, Compassion,
Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (ICARE) are embedded within our culture.
Prior to joining the Queens Network in 2014, Patterson spent a decade at the Central
Brooklyn Network, which includes Kings County, Dr. Susan Smith McKinney Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center, and East New York Diagnostic and Treatment Center where she led the
deployment and adaptation of Breakthrough (Lean) transformation efforts realizing sustainable
improvements in performance and achievement of clinical, financial, and operational goals.
Patterson graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Queens College, a Master’s Degree from
New York University, and post-graduate certificates in Health Care Administration from Cornell
University, the Wharton School and the National Association of Public Hospitals Fellows
Program. She has been Lean Certified at the Platinum Level and is a Registered Dietitian.
