Bharati Sukul Kemraj has been serving as a Senior Associate at Patrick B. Jenkins &
Associates, a consulting firm specializing in strategic solutions for businesses and campaigns,
government relations and community relations.
She has had over a decade of experience working in media, non- profit, public, and
government settings. With this experience, she has combined a knack for communications
with a true passion and love for community engagements.
Born in Guyana, Kemraj moved to the Bronx at the age of seven. She is the daughter of
Chandra and the late Pandit Vishnu Sukul, a Hindu Priest and the first Guyanese to have a
NYC Street co-named in his honor. She has three sisters and two brothers.
Kemraj graduated from Fordham University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in
Communications and Media Studies. She founded the Bharati Dance Academy in 2000,
preserving the Hindu culture and customs through the arts; Worked at BronxNet television in
2005 covering local, national, and international stories for the New York Emmy Award-winning
live show “Open”.
Hired for her technical skills in 2012, Kemraj became Bronx Community Board 11’s first-ever
Community Assistant while serving on Bronx Community Board 9 becoming, in 2014, its
Treasurer and Chairperson of the Youth & Education and Planning Committees.
In 2014 Kemraj founded The Bharati Foundation dedicated to connecting resources back
into the community. In 2015 She worked in the Office of The Bronx Borough President - first
serving in the Communications and Media Department and then the Community Boards Unit.
