CROWN TROPHY
Greg Perry was born in Harlem and lived there until his family moved to the Bronx in the early
1960s. The fi rst school he attended was the Modern School, whose principal was Mildred
Johnson, niece of James Weldon Johnson, an American writer and civil rights activist. Johnson

he received a B.S. and a Masters Degree in Health.
After fi nishing both degrees, Perry began his teaching career at Medgar Evers College in

to teaching at Medgar Evers College, Perry held positions at City College of New York, Borough
of Manhattan Community College, Bronx Community College, and Bergen Community
College in New Jersey. After 40dedicated years as an educator for the CUNY system, Perry
held a professorial position at BMCC’s Health Department and from there he retired after
43years.
