Angela Torres has been serving as a Program Specialist for the (IPTE) Individuals Partnerships
Trusts and Estates division at the Franchise Tax Board. Torres graduated with her MBA from
the Zicklin School of Business with a concentration in Finance, and earned her Bachelor’s
degree from Queens College with a double major in Accounting & Information Systems and
Economics.
She has been well versed in education issues and passionate about it because she is a loving
wife, and dedicated mother of three kids, Joshua 17, Caleb 16, and Eva 10 years old.
She has been involved in the PTA for years and has served as President of the PTA and
most recently, she has been serving as a member of Community Board 10 on the Youth and
Education Committee.
Torres has been featured in several articles and news programs and most recently, was
featured in the Washington Post and has been a weekly Educational Ambassador for News
12; because she believes that it is important to advocate for parents everywhere, especially
those in the Bronx.
Her recent initiative was the Parents Against Cuts petition that was done in response to
the 20% cuts to education that gathered over 2,500 signatures. Currently, she has been
working on a free tutoring program that provides free online tutoring to kids, as well as parent
workshops on technology platforms so they can support their kids at home.
Additionally, she partnered in starting a food pantry initiative in Throggs Neck that began in
the wake of the pandemic, which serves countless families throughout the Bronx twice a
week, and she has been serving at the pantry every Saturday with a smile.
