ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
BENSONHURST CENTER FOR REHAB AND HEALTHCARE
The Rev. Edward Lai has been serving as the Assistant Vice President of Business Development
at Bensonhurst Center, Hopkins Center and Fairview Nursing Care Center. During
the heights of the COVID-19pandemic, he was part of the Bensonhurst and Fairview teams
alongside nursing and medical that go into the facilities daily to work on post acute placements
in nursing homes, assisting social workers and nurse case managers in serving the
needs for those who needed sub acute rehab and skilled nursing services being discharged
from hospitals.
The services his facilities provided ensured hospitals have enough beds open up to treat
COVID-19patients. Although not a licensed medical professional, but an essential worker,
Rev. Lai had daily contact with families and residents during this extreme hard time, he solved
problems and concerns and provided a certain level of comfort to residents and families.
He has led the initiatives in the distribution of 80,000–100,000PPE and 2months of adult
diapers for 200people to the community via Chung Pak Local Development and other community
based organizations for the older adults population.
Rev. Lai has been a member of the leadership council of Chinese-American Planning Council,
the board of Healthcare Choices NY Community Health Center, the Chinese-American
Community Service Center, and various others. A three term member of Brooklyn Community
Boards (7and 11), Rev. Lai has been appointed to DYCD Neighborhood Advisory Board 11by
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams in 2019. He was recently listed on the Points of Light
George H.W Bush Award Celebration Inspiration Honor Roll.
