Lucille Barbato has been serving as a Partner at Spiegel & Barbato, LLP. She was born and
raised in the Bronx and began her career in law in 1975 as a legal secretary. She then became
a paralegal and worked her way through college and law school. In 1984 she received her
Doctorate of Law from Pace Law School and was admitted to the bar on March 25, 1985.
Barbato was the first in her family to go to college and become a professional.
Barbato has been practicing law in the area of plaintiff’s personal injury for 35 years, the last
22 years as a partner and business owner in Spiegel & Barbato, LLP on Westchester Square
in the Bronx. Their office is located in the neighborhood where she grew up, and that is part of
the reason why she has loved what she does.
For the past 35 years, Barbato has been active in the courts as a practicing trial attorney
specializing in negligence cases on behalf of injured plaintiffs. She has conducted many trials
resulting in numerous six and seven figure settlements and verdicts and is especially skilled in
the art of negotiation. Barbato has been dedicated to the Bronx community and has believed
that everyone deserves the representation of an attorney who is not only experienced, but
also concerned, compassionate and empathetic.
She has been a Past President and active member of the Board of Directors of the Bronx
County Bar Association and recently helped to establish their Women’s Alliance Committee.
Barbato was a founding member of the Bronx Advocates for Justice, on the Board of
Directors of the Thurgood Marshall Junior Mock Trial Program, and a member of the New
York State Trial Lawyers Association, Bronx Women’s Bar Association and the Women’s Bar
Association of the State of New York.
