Danica Dorlette has been serving as a Registered Professional Nurse at New York Presbyterian
Hospital at Weill Cornell Medical Center. She has thrived in collaborative environments
where the primary goal is to provide quality care— whether to individuals or whole populations
of people. She graduated from Hunter College where she was awarded a Presidential
Leadership Scholar and a BEST Scholar Award. During this time she served as a Writer and
Associate Editor for a student-run publication and acted as the Metropolitan Regional Director
for the Nursing Students’ Association of New York State. She was given a Certifi cate of
Excellence for her work in advocating for diversity within the nursing workforce and for her
partnership with the Nightingale Initiative for Global Health to bring awareness to disparities in
maternal health.
Dorlette has been recently working on an inpatient Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Unit
where she has serviced herself to provide quality care and creative solutions for oncology patients.
In 2017, her photographic exhibit, “Faces Behind the Mask’’, portraying staff members
with their surgical masks both on and off, was applauded by the Joint Commission as a best
practice and humanization of healthcare. In 2018, she expanded her scope of care when she
founded “Caring with Courage” a learning program focused on increasing confi dence, knowledge,
and skills of the family and friends of oncology patients, who require ongoing care after
discharge.
Dorlette’s desire to help others on a large scale motivated her to pursue a Master of Public
Health degree from Emory University where she graduated with honors.
