As one of the principal partners in The Bronx Drafthouse, Alfredo Angueira owns and operates
one of the premier craft beer bars in the borough. The restaurant’s motto of “Keepin’ it local”
is the guiding principle of their growth. Their location serves as a community art gallery, hurricane
relief coordination site, regional LGBTQ meeting site, and host of campaign fundraisers
and community programming events. Angueira’s belief in the Bronx has been demonstrated
by his partnership group’s continued investment in the region. He is also one of the principal
partners of Beatstro, the world’s fi rst Hip-Hop themed speakeasy, and Bricks & Hops, an outdoor
beer garden in the Mott Haven section.
Before venturing into the restaurant business, Angueira had a 13-year career as an attorney.
He managed a multi-million dollar loan fund as the Executive Director of the Bronx Empowerment
Zone and General Counsel for the Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation.
Angueira also managed the Legal Department for the New York Council on Adoptable Children,
and assisted detained litigants as a legal coordinator for the New York City Department
of Corrections. Angueira has also served on the staff of the Bronx District Attorney, The New
York City Council and the New York State Assembly.
Angueira also sat on the board of directors and board of trustees for several non- and
for-profi t entities. He is currently a board member of Bronx Community College, Anguila Inc.
and The College Bridge Café.
Angueira was most recently awarded the Good Samaritan Award from Bronx Connect, The
Corporation Award from the New York State Assembly Black and Latino Legislative Caucus,
and a legislative citation and proclamation.
