YASMIN
CORNELIUS
VICE PRESIDENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS
L&M DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS
Yasmin Hurston Cornelius has been serving as the Vice President of Community Affairs
at L&M Development Partners and C&C Apartment Management where she has been
responsible for leading the community/governmental relations program for 18,000+ units,
ensuring quality of life accountability for all residents. In addition, her team has established,
maintained, and nurtured the relationships with residents, business partners, government
officials, and other stakeholders, while protecting the company interests as well.
As COVID-19 hit New York City, L&M and C&C responded quickly to support residents and
communities throughout their portfolio. As a preliminary step, Cornelius led a team that
established protocols, created strategies, and executed plans to support the personal needs
of the company’s residents across the firm. Specifically, her team ensured the food security of
high-risk residents while minimizing contagion, by partnering with various municipal agencies,
nonprofits, and service providers to deliver meals to properties with the greatest need. This
effort resulted in the delivery of over 200,000 meals since March 2020.
Cornelius has over 25 years of experience in the private and public sector and has worked for
the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), New York State Senator Majority Conference,
Manhattan Borough President’s Office, and was District Manager of Community Board
10M. In 2016, she was elected New York State Committee member for the 70th Assembly
District. Her current affiliations include the African American Day Parade Committee, Osborne
Association, Friends of Brownsville Parks, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. New York
Alumnae Chapter. Cornelius graduated with a BA in psychology from The City College of New
York.
