LOCAL 2325
Alexi Shalom is a union organizer with the Association of Legal Aid Attorneys— UAW Local
2325. In this role he has had the privilege to work with hundreds of brave public defenders,
paralegals, social workers, and other legal services staff to unite for better conditions for
themselves and their clients. During his time as ALAA organizer, the local has nearly doubled
in size, encompassing 15new employers including the fi rst successful new organizing since
the local union was chartered fi fty years ago. Led by the valiant staff of CAMBA Legal Services,
Shalom was honored to assist those workers in their month-long strike in 2019which
led to numerous achievements despite an intransigent management. A proud Brooklynite,
Shalom has worked for the past 10years to advocate for working-class New Yorkers, for
Bank of America bank tellers, Aramark food service workers, Guitar Center retail employees,
and kosher restaurant workers. Shalom began his activism organizing students against
war, imperialism, austerity, and budget cuts. Shalom is a graduate of Hunter College and the
CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies.
