6. Lokanta
Lokanta serves traditional Turkish cuisine in
an ornately decorated restaurant with walls
covered in images of lush greenery and tables
set with metallic gold cutlery. The menu consists
of soups, small plates and main courses.
The restaurant’s owner, Orhan Yegen, is a chef
who also owns SipSak, located in Manhattan.
“I make sure that every time I open a restaurant,
I add new things to educate guests,”
Yegen said. “You have to teach them, to make
them taste the good things. Maybe they’re not
going to love it, but they’re going to get used
to it. They’re going to learn.”

7. Hoja Santa
At Hoja Santa, guests may come in
expecting to enjoy the usual delights
of Mexican cuisine, like tacos or quesadillas,
but this newest restaurant far
surpasses expectations, with dishes
prepared with “fine seafood,” ceviches,
lamb and more. The manager,
Hugo Contreras, explained that at
Hoja Santa they hope to show customers
a different side of Mexican cuisine.
“We want to let the people know
about a different approach to the
Mexican cuisine that they are not
familiar with,” Hugo Contreras said.
“People love the seafood here that
they have tried. We have a different
kind of seafood preparation that surprises
people.”
