Now that western Queens residents are spending long summer
days in local parks and lounging on their rooftops, there are
plenty of opportunities to capture our neighborhood at its most
beautiful: when the sun rises and sets. We asked our readers
to tag us (@boromagazine) in their Instagrams of sunrises and
sunsets in Astoria, Long Island City and Sunnyside, and we got
an incredible number of entries. You sent in gorgeous shots of the
skyline from Hunters Point South Park during vivid sunsets, photos
of the Hell Gate and Robert F. Kennedy bridges that frame Astoria
Park, pictures you captured in transit and more. Here are some of our
