FOOD + DRINK

Astoria’s restaurant scene is as diverse as its residents, and there’s a new swell of delicious dining
experiences for Astorians to sink their teeth into as summer begins. No matter what cuisine you like,
there’s something new to taste, from soup dumplings to traditional Turkish eats. As the weather gets
warmer and the days get longer, now is the perfect time to get together some friends and try some
of these hot spots before they’re filled with regulars.

Eight new restaurants, cafes and bakeries to try in Astoria
1. Bund on Broadway
Bund on Broadway specializes in Chinese cuisine such
as dim sum, noodles and soup dumplings, all handmade
and prepared fresh. As the neighborhood begins
to experience what Bund has to offer, the menu will be
expanded to have seasonal options as well as more vegetarian
selections. Right now, its biggest draw is its soup
dumplings, which can be pan-fried or steamed and filled
with either pork, vegetables or crabmeat. One of the location’s
partners, David Kong, who was raised in Queens,
felt Astoria was an obvious choice for a new location.
“I want to give people more variety,” Kong said. “The
people here deserve an authentic Chinese restaurant,
and it does very well when it’s authentic.”
