Alumni, employers & friends gather
The Career Services department
of Vaughn College of Aeronautics
and Technology held their
annual New Year’s Reception for
alumni, employers and friends on
January 9th. Guests gathered in
the vast Vaughn reception hall to a
feast of hor’doeures, cocktails and
entertainment. This annual holiday
event falls just after the New
Year and before the new school
year begins providing time for the
Vaughn faculty to informally mix
with grads, recent and not-so-recent
alumni, and supportive friends
of the school. George Augustus
Vaughn’s grandson Peter Vaughn is
a board member and a regular guest
at many functions and he exemplifies
the continuing legacy of his
relative. Alumnus Michael Klein
who worked at Sikorsky helicopter
for years and was a member of the
elite mechanic team for the Presidential
Helicopters under several
presidents circulated the party and
shared interesting stories of presidential
helicopter use. President
Sharon DeVivo spoke to the crowd
, thanking all for their attendance
and proudly expressed the degree
of financial and personal success
that many graduates achieve. Additional
members of the faculty chatted
with former students, business
supporters and friends who are
cheer leaders for this amazing institution
situated right across the
highway from LaGuardia Airport
and airlines with which they have
good working relationships.
The Reception is the first of
many events geared to students,
employers, and friends throughout
each year.
