ACI & A-ISAC form threat agreement
Agreement to share cyber terror intel
Airports Council International
(ACI) World and A-ISAC announced
they have signed an agreement that
better enables ACI members to join
the A-ISAC for access to airportspecifi
c cyber threat intelligence
and actionable data that will enhance
their ability to build worldwide
cyber resiliency for members.
Both organizations play an active
role in supporting the global
aviation network; by increasing
collaboration, the groups have created
a partnership that better protects
global aviation stakeholders,
including the travelling public.
Airports Council International addresses
key issues and concerns
that, despite regional diversity, impact
the united airport industry.
The Aviation ISAC is a global membership
consortium that focuses on
cyber security threats to airports,
airlines, IFE/Satcom providers,
original equipment manufacturers,
supply chain manufacturers, and
service providers.
Angela Gittens, Director General,
ACI World said “This agreement
sets out ACI and A-ISAC’s
shared objective to improve cyber
resilience in every sector of the
global air transport network. Airports
are critical to a successful
aviation infrastructure and building
their cyber resiliency is a signifi
cant goal for 2020 and beyond.
With the rapid increase in cyber attacks
targeting airports, knowledge
gained through the Aviation ISAC
is a vital component of preparedness
and incident response.”
Jeff Troy, A-ISAC president
added: “In 2019, airports saw a signifi
cant increase in ransom ware
attacks. This is only the tip of the
iceberg. By partnering with ACI to
encourage airports to participate
in A-ISAC membership, we are helping
airports take a proactive stance
against cyber threats.”
In addition to over arching aviation
industry cyber threat intelligence,
airports that join the Aviation
ISAC will have access to a dedicated
working group, a quarterly report
that covers the latest airport-specifi
c threats and trends, and other
content that is solely focused on airport
cyber security concerns.
The agreement is not limited
to cyber threat intelligence sharing.
The organizations will work
together at industry events and activities
with the over arching goal
of ensuring a safer and more secure
aviation infrastructure that recognizes
airports as key stakeholders.
IDEAS/INPUT WANTED JFK REDEV. BENEFITS
while driving solutions to all
the expected obstacles during
the life of the project.
All airport stakeholders
are welcome to participate in
one or more groups to provide
input and ideas to the overall
Steering committee which is
headed by JFK General Manager
Charles Everett and Interim
Deputy General Manager
Teresa Rizzuto.
Everett had this to
say, “We recognize working
groups time and effort.
Thanks for stepping up and
taking part”
Echoed in part by Rizzuto
who added, “Everyone has a
voice and everyone’s voice
will be heard.”
FAA Air Traffi c Tower
Manager Dave Siewert said
after hearing the comments
form the team leaders and
other redevelopment managers,
“ The Level of collaboration
and stakeholder input is
unprecedented.”
Asst. Redevelopment Director
Jim Heitman stressed
the importance of establishing
priorities based on events
that are occurring and anticipating
issues based on the
timeline planning stages.
He said the priorities will
change as the program progresses
and asked the working
groups to keep this in
mind as the group meetings
progress .As one said, “it is
coordination, collaboration,
outreach and the groups input.
“ that will make this collaboration
successful. Heitman
added, :”We are going
to be innovative with innovative
constructive so we cannot
do this program using
normal proven techniques.
The good news is that this
community and experts have
lived through a lot of emergencies
before. There are
more compressed schedules
and we will use this forum to
deal with these changes.”
The fi rst phase of the redevelopment
will center around
the airport parking followed
closely by the beginning
of Terminal One construction
in the Spring. Therefore
it was important to get the
working groups established
so that their input would begin
prior to the beginning of
any airport construction.
Each working group
meets on Monday to establish
weekly goals then convenes
on Fridays to report
back to the Steering Committee.
This way all the groups
are aware of what is happening
with the others and
can also share overlapping
concerns and solutions. The
groups re acting as an advisory
role to the JFK redevelopment
team this is looking
to make sure that all stakeholder
interests are heard
and implemented if they fi t
the scope of the project or are
a better specifi c solution.
The JFK Redevelopment
is a product from Governor’s
Vision Plan. This plan was
kicked off in January of 2017
at the ground breaking of the
TWA Hotel where the Governor
announced his vision.
He called upon the stakeholders
to join him in creating a
New JFK airport. Within a
year, the Governor and the
Port Authority had partnered
with several investors to
come up with redevelopment
on a public private partnership
basis.
Now, many of the pieces
have been put in place with
$13 billion dollars expected
to be spend to build new terminals,
new taxiways,, remake
airport roadways,
Airtrain expansion , create
new parking garages and a
new ground transportation
center, rehabilitate and expand
other terminals, build
new cargo facilities, upgrade
power and the infrastructure
foundation while working
wit the NYS DOT in the
Van Wyck Expressway expansion.
