M/WBE outreach event
New JFK T1 contracting jobs
The new Terminal 1 at JFK Airport
teamed up with AECOM Tishman
and the Port Authority to host
an M/WBE outreach program for the
local community. Representatives
from AECOM Tishman had several
display tables and met with a wide
range of individuals to present
the upcoming contracting opportunities
at the new terminal which
is central part of the JFK redevelopment.
Hundreds of interested partners
showed up and huddled with
Tishman reps with many questions
about this part of the new JFK construction
redevelopment. However
as the word spread of the event several
companies, in a more services
role, stopped by to meet the contracting
reps to introduce themselves and
seek answers about other future opportunities.
Currently the Terminal One team
is seeking local M/WBE contractors
which are intended to meet the 30%
utilization rate in the construction
either as a stand along company or
as a subcontractor. The terminal redevelopment
consists of the demolition
of the current Terminal One and
the construction of a new terminal
spanning across three former terminal
areas. The is innovative, state-ofthe
art passenger facility will cover
over 2 million square feet, ;have 23
gates and be the home of most international
airlines at JFK.
To be considered an a M/WBE entity,
it is necessary to apply and be approved
as a minority vendor. This is
done by visiting the www.PANYNJ.
gov website and finding out the requirements
to be approved then once
approved then added to the lists of
available contractors for construction
jobs.
