A rally was recently held at Mott Haven Reformeed Church protesting the continued use of Rikers Island. Bronx Clergy, churches, residents and the formerly incarcerated recently gathered
together on Thursday, September 12 for a panel to discuss a movement to close Rikers Island and build more humane, borough-based jails.

SALAMANCA ALLOCATES CHECK TO HP ALLIANCE
Councilman Rafael Salamanca joined families at the 2019 Back to School Fair at Hunts Point
Riverside Park to present a check for $83,000 that will fund Programming & Youth Development
services. Hunts Point Alliance for Children annually serves over 300 students and
their families — as well as impacting over 2,000 students through community events and
school partnerships.
