In its 25-year time, BronxNet’s executive
director Michael Max Knobbe
has watched fi rsthand the growth of
the network along with the borough.
“We’ve seen the Bronx become
a symbol of urban renewal in these
years,” Knobbe said, mentioning how
BronxNet has expanded from one to
six channels.
“Now the network has become a
multi-site, multimedia platform and
we’re nowhere near done growing
yet,” he continued.
During his tenure, Knobbe has also
seen many BronxNet alum move on to

He listed the many BronxNet success
stories both current and in the
past 25 years starting with the very
popular Darlene Rodriguez , a reporter
for NBC 4.
Currently Yeila Lluberres is doing
outstanding work for Spectrum
News 1 as a weekend anchor in addition
to her other reporter duties. She
came from the Dominican Republic to
the Bronx, becoming a BronxNet producer
and attending Lehman College.
Dean Meminger followed a similar
path, starting at BronxNet to fi nd success
at Spectrum New 1 as well.
Michael Thrower is currently in the
cutting room for FOX, handling much
of its content, while Jeremy Hutchens
has given MTV, VICE, and BET some
of its most unique stories as well.
Jhelsy Paula has commanded the
news ‘en Espanol’ for Telemundo after
coming from BronxNet. Another success
story is the Emmy Award winning
news director Michael Leon of
BronxNet and later News 12.
If interested in attending the 25th
anniversary, why not do it in style?
Anchor sponsors are awarded a table
