Abdulurb Abbadi is a third-generation owner of Ballpark
Sports Shop.
His grandfather started the aptly-named business in 1980,
right near Yankee Stadium.
For years they sold Yankee merchandise – jackets, jerseys,
hats. But in 2019, when Nike took over the merchandising, Ballpark
Sports Shop lost its licensing.
With the help of the community, Abbadi and his family led a
rally – a David VS. Goliath battle – and won.
“We as a small business have been part of the old and new
stadium,” said Addabi.
In 2022, is set to launch a website from which to purchase
merchandise.

WILMA ALONSO

FORDHAM ROAD BID
Wilma began her career on Fordham Road back in 1995 at
the Bronx Council for Economic Development. It was during
her time as the Executive Director of this founding organization
that she helped establish Fordham Road BID in 2005.
Since then she has long been considered the heart and soul

advocate of the neighborhood and is the architect behind
many of the economic, social, and capital improvements
that have occurred on Fordham Road.
