“I call it post-adult college,” Kris said,
“because it really is a community. They
have events, and we’ve met so many people
who are in the same boat.”
Kris is an executive assistant at a financial
company in Manhattan. Ilana is in
copyright infringement and just started
a job which she can work remotely, so it’s
a space that complements all aspects of
their life, as a place to both work and unwind.
The living room is exactly where you
want to be all winter. There’s a very realistic
looking fake fireplace set up on one
wall that acts as a heater (fake flames and
all). When I visited in December, a mini
Christmas tree sat next to the floor-toceiling
windows, adorned with a Star of
David for Ilana. And stockings (courtesy of
Amazon) were hung by the fake fireplace
with care.
Framing the fireplace are two tall open
shelves from Wayfair. “We went with open
shelves because it’s a little space,” Ilana
said. “So if it’s open and flowy it won’t feel
so congested.”
