Let’s Get
1. BRITTA WHITTENBERG
While her day job is working at Mark Fisher
Fitness in the city, Whittenberg has a personal
trainer side hustle. She hosts clients in
her Astoria apartment, travels to them, and
also rents space from a Midtown gym. As for
the sessions themselves, she mainly teaches
strength training and described her style as
“very relaxed and goofy”
— but perhaps her
Instagram handle gave that away. “I’m very
personable and very weird,” Whittenberg
explained. “I have a very welcoming and
open attitude to all clients, so they can feel
comfortable to be themselves and not feel
like they're going to be judged in any way.”

Come each January, the gyms become fit to bursting with people trying to get in shape. But it’s no
wonder so many fall off the exercise wagon when they’re left to their own devices, randomly pumping
iron and scrolling through Instagram on the elliptical. Even the most earnest New Year’s resolutions
can fall by the wayside when things get busy, difficult or inconvenient. That’s where personal trainers
come in. Think of them as your cheerleader, life coach and friend all rolled into one.
The personal trainers featured below come from different countries, live in different western Queens
neighborhoods, and have different day jobs, but all 11 of these professionals share one trait in
common: They tailor their programs to their clients, helping them becoming fitter, healthier, happier
versions of themselves. Get to know the personalities behind your neighborhood’s personal trainers.
