2021 AIRPORT VOICE WOMAN OF ACHIEVEMENT 35
accredited professional.
Some of her accomplishments include projects
that she completed involving airport developments,
transportation, hotels, restaurants, commercial,
industrial, and educational, as well as
houses of worship and residential projects.
Duphrezin got her start in the aviation industry
after she earned her Bachelor of Science degree
in architecture from City College’s school of
architect and environmental studies. Her first architectural
job was for a firm that worked on airport
and transportation projects. Despite her extremely
successful career, when she was a college
student, she was actually given bad advice trying
to discourage her from even pursuing what she
has now earned for herself today.
“While I was in college, I was advised to instead
pursue another career by a male professor,”
said Duphrezin. “I ultimately persevered to
achieve my dream to become an architect, so my
advice to women is to never give up, do not take
no for an answer, and be ambitious.”
Even still, Duphrezin acknowledges that there are
still many challenges that she and her company face,
even with the many strides she has already made.
“Diversity in the field of architecture has always
been a challenge,” said Duphrezin. “RCGA
is a minority
architectural firm and some of the challenges
have been getting meaningful design work from
the prime architectural firms. Although we are
highly qualified it continues to be a challenge to
get a fair share of the pie.”
Despite the adversity she sometimes faces
in her journey, Duphrezin still looks forward to
working on “a major sustainable project,” which
she has been able to attract because of her LEED
credential and her outstanding work ethic.
“I strongly believe that I perform with great
attention to detail, while providing strong team
leadership skills in order to successfully meet
the clients’ needs,” said Duphrezin.
