at Terminal 4 for John F. Kennedy International airport.
Murray takes pride in handling challenges as
well as creating positive change for herself and
her colleagues. This mentality has led her and
her team to accomplishments such as earning
the Leed Gold Award in 2017-the first terminal
in the United States to achieve this ranking. “I’m
proud to have worked on that project and grateful
to be part of an organization that recognizes the
importance of environmental sustainability and
social responsibility,” said Murray.
Murray began her career in aviation working
as a customer service representative for TWA.
From there, a colleague encouraged her to apply
at IAB (prior to construction of Terminal 4) and
she worked for janitorial and maintenance contractors
where her hard work earned her a promotion
to the role of planning and control coordinator
and assistant project manager. After that,
she was hired by JFKIAT where she has worked
since 2011.
She is constantly inspired by the wide array of
diversity that comes and goes through Terminal
4 each day and the unique opportunity to meet
people from all over the world when she comes
into work. The fact that she is able to make a difference
in the lasting positive impression that
visitors get in their travels is a very fulfilling
part of what she does.
In adapting to life in the pandemic, Murray
explained that she and her colleagues “have
worked hard researching and developing processes
and practices that create an environment
where passengers can feel safe to return
to aviation travel.”
And while challenges like these were certainly
unique, Murray has always allowed these
kinds of circumstances to make her “learn, grow,
and become a better version” of herself.
Ultimately she believes that “thinking outside
of the box, changing when it’s needed, and perseverance”
are attributable to her success.
