About 75 percent of patrons are from Queens and the borough’s
diversity is reflected in its programming. The Latino Cultural
Festival and the Asian Cultural Fest take place there, as does The
Afro-Semitic Experience, and a musical highlighting the African-
American and Jewish-American musical heritages.
Inside scoop: The 1978 musical “The Wiz” and the final scene of
the 1997 action comedy “Men In Black” were filmed in the NYS
Pavilion.

QUEENS ZOO
Queens Zoo is home to more than 40 species of wildlife native to
the Americas. From the bison range to the aviary to the sea lion
pool to the wildlife marsh, Queens Zoo spans 18 acres of outdoor
exhibits. The expansive farm area offers visitors a chance to feed
and touch goats, sheep and other barnyard favorites.
The zoo is part of the Wildlife Conservation Society,
a consortium dedicated to saving wildlife and wild places
through science, conservation and education. Other members
include Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, New York Aquarium and
Prospect Park Zoo.
Inside scoop: Just outside the main entrance is a four-row
carousel with 64 jumping horses, seven standing horses, a lion
and a few chariots. Built for the 1964 World’s Fair, it was listed
on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

QUEENSBORO FOOTBALL CLUB
Soccer-Queensboro FC is a professional men’s soccer team that
will start playing in the 2022 season of the USL Championship,
the top tier of the United Soccer League. As of this printing,
plans for a 7,500-seat soccer-specific stadium at York College in
Jamaica were underway.
QFC already runs a youth development program to support the
professional team ahead of its debut in 2022.
