Inside scoop: Queens Museum is located in the New York
City Building, which was constructed for the 1939 World’s
Fair. From 1946 to 1950, the venue hosted the United
Nations General Assembly which created the state of Israel in
1947. While in Queens, the entity also dealt with the Indian
Independence Act of 1947, which dissolved the British Indian
Empire and created the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights, which decrees that all human beings are born free and
equal in dignity and rights.

QUEENS THEATRE
Queens Theatre presents several hundred performances a year
in its campus, which includes a main stage with 464 seats, an
80-seat black box space and a 75-chair cabaret.
It began as Theaterama, one of three New York State Pavilion
structures designed by renowned modernist architect Phillip
Johnson for the 1964 World’s Fair. After a period of dormancy,
the building was converted into an entertainment venue in 1993.
In addition to live acts, Queens Theatre facilitates education
programs on site, in schools, at senior centers and at Queens
Public Library branches. Additionally, local arts organizations
