The ceremony opened with Color Guard presentation by Aviation High School’s JROTC and included speeches by NY State Assembly Member Michael Dendekker, Michael Kim, who is an Iraq War Veteran and Director of the Queens Vet Center, and Sgt. Denny Meyer (retired), who represents LGBTQ organization American Veterans for Equal Rights (AVER).
