Queens marches to Trump Tower on Nov. 19 President-elect Donald Trump may be a Queens native, but the borough’s residents will march to Trump Tower this weekend to show that they don’t agree with the rhetoric they have heard from his campaign. Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer is organizing the march that will start at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Northern Boulevard and Queens Plaza North in Long Island City. Participants will then march over the Queensboro Bridge to Trump Tower at 725 Fifth Ave., the incoming president’s residence and workplace in Midtown Manhattan. Van Bramer is encouraging people to bring their own signs to the event, “Queens Responds with Queens Values.” “We may not be able to reverse the results of this election but we can and should fulfill our obligation to resist all these things which have been explicitly promised and threatened by Trump and Pence,” Van Bramer said in a statement. “I fully support and am even encouraged by the hundreds of thousands of people who have peacefully taken to the streets all over the country.” Angela Matua Bay Terrace to get new Italian eatery Since Tony Roma’s restaurant closed its doors at the Bay Terrace Shopping Center in Bayside last month, many have wondered what would replace it. Alexis Ramos Con Ed issues warning about scammers As instances of scammers duping local residents into giving them money are prevalent not only in Queens, but all over the country, energy companies — including Con Edison — are joining forces to help raise awareness against these crooks. “Scam callers posing as Con Edison representatives are an ongoing, frequent and dangerous problem for the company’s customers,” Con Edison said in a press release. “The company receives dozens of complaints each week about calls to customers’ homes and businesses from scammers demanding immediate payment and threatening a service shutoff.” According to the energy company, scammers often times call their victims on the phone posing to be a representative with Con Edison and say that their service will be cut off due to unpaid bills or other false accusations. Anyone who feels they may have been a target of a payment scam should call police. They may also call Con Edison at 800-75CONED. Anthony Giudice
