North Shore Towers Courier n August 2016 7 Photos by Dawn Steinberg and Stephen Vrattos This year’s Annual Babes & Guys Golf Tournament was a hot affair John Virga prepares for the “Babes” “Babe”-alicious Buffet Queen of Swing Mah-Jongg devotees alike, who wanted to be a part of the event, but were not golf enthusiasts. “The say to me ‘We wouldn’t miss giving to the American Cancer Society,’” Oropallo said of the card room contributors. This year’s Babes & Guys luncheon, which immediately follows play, was once again hosted by Towers on the Green, appropriately enough. The room was bathed in more pink than you’d find at a 6-year-old princess party; tablecloths, centerpieces, decorations and balloons filling the the space, with a smattering of blue adding a touch of testosterone. The affect was magical. Two buffets, each with a carving station, were set up at opposite sides of the room, serving fresh salad, eggplant rollatini, turkey breast, cranberry sauce and bread pudding, and Tartufo was hand-served to everyone for dessert. Along with the various golf awards, more than thirty prizes—gift certificates to local restaurants and vendors, wine and fruit baskets, among others—were raffled off. For the first time, Oropallo put together a journal, featuring well wishes from both merchants and generous contributors. “The journal brought in $2000,” she said. “I hope to expand on its initial success next year.” One unfortunate result of the overwhelming success this year was the exclu sion of the vendors from the luncheon to make room for the additional participants. Oropallo could not stress enough the importance of all the vendors in the success of the event and plans are already in the works to thank them with a luncheon of their own sometime in the early fall. Kudos to Country Club Manager, Mary Anne Langone, Allison Gochman, Towers on the Green’s Buffy and Angelo, Teri Oropallo, Geri Rubin, Blossom Greenberg, Golf Pro Bob Guido and their respective teams for putting on a lovely affair and helping to make the 2016 Babes & Guys such a success. “Gobble, gobble” Meeting their greens (l. to r.)
