Alex (@alexthegrief), an
event marketer for the fi lm
industry, was on his way
to meet up with friends for
lunch when he caught my
attention. He said his style
is “very eclectic” and that
he enjoys collecting unique
pieces and incorporating
them into his wardrobe.

LAYER UP
BY MARIE TORIO
@PHOTOSBYMARIETORIO
Fall is in full swing, and western
Queens are starting to
layer up. Sweater weather
is my favorite time of year
when it comes to fashion, so
I was excited to walk around
Astoria to fi nd its most stylish residents
this month. Jeans, lightweight
turtlenecks, sweaters, knit ponchos
and high-waisted pants were some
of the pieces that caught my attention.
Plus, locals didn’t forget to pay
attention to the details: I noticed
beautiful, chunky-heeled shoes
with fl oral embroidery on one fashionista,
while one man added a turquoise
stone ring to his ensemble.
Habiba (@habibaahmedk), a student
in Astoria, was on her way home from
school when her high-waisted pants
and turtleneck shirt caught my eye. I
loved how she paired her sage green
pants with neutral colors. She said
she likes to keep her fashion choices
“casual.” I defi nitely agree: she looked
casual without compromising style.
