“I like the very minimalist vibe. I used to
be a hoarder I feel like, so I like to make
sure I don’t hold onto anything unless I
literally need it.”
Her home office — a keyboard that rests
right under the window — allows her
plenty of light while she works, framed by
large turquoise drapes.
Two rows of perfectly hung hats decorate
the corner. Off to the left rests a tall
vanity mirror and makeup station. Even
her collection of shoes draped on the
back of the door is color-coordinated.
“I also wanted a separate bedroom and
a separate living room,” the singer said.
“I knew a studio would feel too much like
a dorm. And I knew I could get a decent
apartment for cheaper in Astoria.”
And she’s fallen in love with the neighborhood
and isn’t going anywhere any
time soon — except when she’s on tour,
of course.
“I love how it’s so neighborhood-y,”
Anderson said. “I love how diverse it is
and not pretentious. You don’t know how
much I’ve wanted this — it gives me a real
sense of independence.”
