All Types of Kinds
(ATOK)
All Types of Kinds, also known as
ATOK, is an indie-folk rock/pop project
with elements of hip-hop and
modern rock. The band takes pride
in their precise harmonies and works
to fuse genres in an original way and
show their affection for the craft.
“We try to embrace and encompass
as many genres as possible while maintaining
a natural sound,” said Rocco
Stroker (bass, guitar, vocals and synths).
ATOK started as a three-piece band
consisting of Ray Rubio (vocals, guitar
and percussion), Billy Conahan (guitar
and vocals) and Berk O (cajon, drums,
ukulele and vocals). The original trio got
its start by busking, and as they began
recording and playing bigger shows, Stroker
joined “as the extra oomph we needed,”
Berk O said.
Their home city has made its mark on
the band: “New York City truly created
All Types Of Kinds,” Rubio said. “The city
lives and breathes as a melting pot and
we want to harness all of that. We all come
from different backgrounds in our upbringings
and in our music.”
ATOK has accomplished quite a bit for
a relatively new project. Along with the
re-release of “Love Songs,” ATOK has finished
up another EP and is writing a third.
