Boost security as TSA increase staff Vaxx
While the TSA

19 vaccine, U.S.
Senator Schumer
urged the agency to
come up with a holiday
travel contingency
plan that includes the deployment of
more TSA canine dog teams across
the country and at NY-metro airports,
wherever vaccine rates are a staffing
and security concern.
“News from the TSA that 40% of
its employees are unvaccinated could
create a turbulent travel experience
for Americans and New Yorkers as the
holidays approach, but if the agency
plans now with contingencies that include
the deployment of canine dog
teams—wherever vaccine rates are
impacting staffing and security—travel
headaches could be avoided,” said
U.S. Senator Charles Schumer.
“While the TSA works to get more of
its workforce vaccinated with the safe
and effective COVID-19 vaccine, they
should present a contingency plan to
the public that includes
the deployment of their
canine dog teams.
These canine teams,
and we have all seen
them, can be sent to airports
across the country
to help with staffing
and security concerns,
especially as holiday
travel demands spike. This is not a
permanent solution, but it is an option
while the agency works to increase its
vaccination rate,” Schumer added.
Schumer discussed how the TSA
and said that 40% of its employees remain
unvaccinated, as the November
22nd federal worker mandate looms.
Schumer said that because of this
news, the TSA must plan now for potential
Thanksgiving and Christmas airport
headaches by deploying more of
their canine dog teams to the nation’s
airports, which could include LGA, JFK
and EWR (Newark).
"We have about 60% of our workforce
has been vaccinated, that that
number needs to go over the next few
weeks," said TSA Administrator David
Pekoske.
