Vice President Ward serves nearly 14,000 students with tuition-based and grant- and contract-funded programs in support of the K-12 and adult community. During her seven-year tenure at Queensborough, Ms. Ward has been awarded several grants, two of which are the largest awarded in Queensborough’s history. The grants serve both the adult workforce community as well as at-risk high school and middle school students. Ms. Ward established innovative pre-college programs, such as CUNYStart, which offers immersion programming for high school graduates with severe remediation needs. In addition, Ms. Ward currently serves as the College Lead to the new CUNY Early College High School Initiative, Business Technology High School (BTECH), joining the NYC Department of Education, Queensborough Community College and an industry partner, SAP, in a collaborative effort. Ms. Ward also led the development of the recently submitted CUNY 2020 Allied Healthcare Center grant, bringing together as partners a number of CUNY schools and community-based organizations, all while garnering legislative support. Prior to joining Queensborough, Ms. Ward served as Dean of Continuing Education at Marymount Manhattan College and as adjunct faculty of several institutions, including temporary service as a Lieutenant Commander, U.S. Navy, Persian Gulf/Pacifi c Fleet, teaching business and fi nance courses to naval personnel stationed in the Middle East. Ms. Ward held leadership roles in the fi nance sector for over 20 years prior to entering academia. Vice President Ward holds an MBA from Pace University and a B.A. from Brooklyn College. Working with The Tablet staff has always been more than a job to Kimberly. It’s an extended family that has grown and fl ourished even more with the expansion of DeSales Media. BENN KIMBERLY Advertising Account Executive DeSales Media Group Kimberly Benn is a Sales Account Executive at DeSales Media Group and has worked in media and advertising for 17 years. Kim started with The Tablet newspaper as an administrative assistive in 1997 and worked her way up to Display Advertising Account Executive. The Tablet is a Catholic weekly newspaper that has served Brooklyn and Queens since 1908. During her tenure at The Tablet, Kimberly has also been involved in running many company events such as anniversary galas for The Tablet newspaper. She has served on the Bishops’ Golf Classic committee for more than 15 years, a successful annual event that is sponsored by DeSales Media and The Tablet. In 2011, The Tablet newspaper (www.thetablet. org) merged with The Prayer Channel (now NET TV: www.netny.tv) to become DeSales Media Group (www.desalesmedia.org). With this merger came the opportunity for Kim to add TV and online media to her print portfolio. These cross-platform advertising opportunities have enabled Kim and the Tablet to expand to both a national and international audience. Kimberly has lived in Queens her whole life. She grew up in Broad Channel and graduated from SUNY Cortland. She now lives in Rockaway Park, NY with her husband Mike Benn and sons Michael Joseph and Oliver. She is a long-time member of St. Francis de Sales parish. Kimberly enjoys working in media. She is a people person and appreciates meeting new people and making connections to help grow her clients’ business.
