Stacy Miranda
Family and consumer sciences
teacher
North Shore Middle School
Stacy Miranda teaches everyday
life skills to students, designed
to help them navigate through
life and become self-sufficient.
She also has learned the value
of life as she continues her own
journey and brings life lessons to
her students.
At age 34, Miranda was diagnosed
with invasive ductal carcinoma,
triple positive breast cancer. After being
treated at Memorial Sloan Kettering, she’s
approaching five years of being cancer free. And
she’s bringing a renewed appreciation to her life and work.
Miranda, a Long Beach resident for nearly three decades, teaches family
and consumer sciences at the North Shore Middle School in Glen
Head. In that role, she teaches students everyday life skills designed
to guide them toward becoming self-sufficient, successful, productive
and happy members of society. Teaching remains her greatest passion,
as she strives to take life lessons and inspire students.
As a cancer survivor, Miranda has developed a new sense of strength
and desire to live life to the fullest and teach life lessons to students.
She also is involved with two nonprofits, First Descents, providing
adventure trips for young adults impacted by cancer; and Climb For
Hope, which raises money for breast cancer and multiple sclerosis
research.
Pamela R. Drullinsky,

Regional Care Network Medical
Site Director,
Memorial Sloan Kettering
Cancer Center
Memorial Sloan Kettering
Nassau recently expanded in
Uniondale in a major move for
the Manhattan-based health
care provider – and a big change
for the region. Drullinsky, a
medical oncologist who specializes
in treating breast cancer, is the

She and her colleagues offer a multidisciplinary
approach to cancer treatment, combining

to help individualize treatment. They also enroll patients in
clinical trials and collaborate with local physicians and facilities to
care for patients.
After training in oncology and hematology at MSK, Dr. Drullinsky
joined MSK Rockville Centre when it opened in 1998. Prior to a fellowship
at MSK, she completed her residency in internal medicine
at Mount Sinai Medical Center. She holds an M.D. from the Sackler

In addition to her work on Long Island, Dr. Drullinsky also sees
