Museum of the Moving Image 36-01 35th Ave I (718) 777-6800 “Walkers: Hollywood Afterlives in Art and Artifact” On view Nov. 7 through April 10 The reimagining and recycling of Hollywood iconography in contemporary art, and the way that movies live on in our personal and cultural memories, are explored in this exhibition. Organized by independent curator and scholar Robert M. Rubin, the exhibition includes 120 works by 40 artists that dissect, appropriate, and redefine some of the past century’s most iconic films through photography, drawing, sculpture, print, and video. The Noguchi Museum 9-01 33rd Rd I (718) 204-7088 “Museum of Stones” On view through Jan. 10 The Noguchi Museum will feature an exhibition inspired by the reciprocal relationship between water and stone and the cultural contexts in which stone operated in Isamu Noguchi’s imagination. The exhibition inserts the work of contemporary artists into the original Noguchi installation with 15 Chinese rock-related objects on loan from The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
