Since starting the business in a Middle Village office, Empire Movers’ founder and president, Florin Petruta, has grown his business into a premier moving company. As the company expanded, Petruta moved the company’s office to 810 E 139th St. in the Bronx, while the Middle Village office is still used by the sales team. “We noticed not long after we started the business the lack of customer services in customizing the needs of the people,” Petruta said. “So basically, what we do along with the moving service, we complete it with another range of services, like crating for artwork, we do storage and IT service relocation.” One of Empire Movers’ high-end clients included toy store F.A.O. Schwartz, after they closed their 5th Avenue location. “Definitely one of the more appreciated jobs we’ve had was F.A.O. Schwartz due to the reputation and the history behind it,” Petruta said. “All the guys were excited and at the same time sad to see a huge store close.” Whether moving around the block or to a different borough, from a small office space to a large corporate facility, Empire Movers offers customers short and long distance moving services. Empire Movers also offer a choice in payment methods, with either a flat rate quote or an hourly rate, giving the power to the customer. The moving company sells packing supplies, including wardrobe boxes, file boxes, picture and mirror boxes, as well as shrink wrap, bubble wrap, packing tape and other items to help clients get ready to relocate. In addition to selling moving supplies, Empire Movers provide customers additional services including unpacking and setup of furniture as well as electronics and IT setup at the new location. “The idea is to be like a one-stop shop,” Petruta said. “We have a couple of carpenters on site that take care of, not necessarily simple, but also medium to complex carpentry stuff. Disassembling, assembling wall units and all that.” Empire Movers is also planning to include a cleaning service to their operation to come in and clean both the new and old locations before and after the move. “We have a cleaning service, which shortly we are going to combine it together with the moving service,” Petruta said. “So again, what we’re trying to do is have a full package for the customers. It’s always a need, cleaning service before and after the move...at this point I don’t know someone who does this, however we’re looking to be one.”
