NYPD visits GatewayJFK
Meets community
The NYPD arrived in force to the
GatewayJFK district to hold a special
meeting where businesses and residents
shared their concerns with leaders
from the Queens 105th Precinct.
Neighborhood Coordination Offi -
cers (NCO) Kurt Benjamin and Luis
Benzant were joined by Commanding
Offi cers from the precinct and New
York City Council member Donovan
Richard’s offi ce to hear the neighborhood
concerns.
The meeting is part of the larger
“Build the Block” Neighborhood
Safety Meetings being held by NYPD
as part of an ongoing effort related to
their Neighborhood Policing program.
The program seeks to close the divide
between offi cers and community members.
“Build the Block” meetings are
strategy sessions between local police
offi cers and the people they serve. The
meetings have two simple goals: identify
the public safety challenges of a
specifi c neighborhood and discuss potential
solutions.
The GatewayJFK District has a lot
of special needs related to policing
from illegal dumping, to traffi c concerns,
to loitering and abandoned vehicles.
We encourage all of our business
owners and our residents to attend, describe
these issues and more with the
NYPD, and help us plan for solutions.
