Brothel in the basement in Bayside
Undercover offi cers cuff ed three Queens residents on May 7 when they went into
a massage parlor and were allegedly off ered sex acts in return for cash. Cheolryong
Shin, 31, arranged for Ting Ting Wen, 27, and Yan Yan Hong, 40, to agree to the
terms of performing sexual intercourse and a full body massage for $160 within the
basement of the building near the corner of 45th Drive and Bell Boulevard.
Perp arrested for violent sex assault
On May 3, a sexual assault left a 52-year-old Kew Gardens woman injured at the bottom
of a stairwell near Kissena Boulevard and 72nd Road. NYPD and the U.S. Marshals
posted a $10,000 reward for Ronald Williams, 21, aft er identifying him through security
footage and was picked up at a motel in Columbia, SC by local law enforcement within
fi ve days of the attack.
Would-be thieves try to take mailbox
On May 11, three men were in the act of stealing an entire USPS mailbox on
Yellowstone Boulevard and 67th Road in Forest Hills when cops from the 112th
Precinct rolled up.
A 30-year-old man was captured on site while two others fl ed and the attempt
marked a new extreme for the borough-wide mail theft problem in Queens. Fishing
envelopes out of mailboxes are the norm as opposed to making off with the entire
thing, however.
A more aff ordable east
Analysts from StreetEasy listed that neighborhoods in eastern Queens were much
more aff ordable compared to those in the west on May 17.
By splitting the borough into 53 neighborhoods, StreetEasy claimed that Jamaica
Estates is the most aff ordable followed by Briarwood, Kew Gardens Hills and Kew
Gardens. Median sale prices in Long Island City were $934,520 making it the least
aff ordable followed by Ridgewood, Auburndale and Fresh Meadows.
