Hiker fi nds dead body in Kissena Park
Andy Peralta, 17, of Corona was found unconscious and unresponsive inside Kissena
Park in Flushing April 24. Law enforcement authorities reported Peralta sustained trauma
to his head. Following an autopsy conducted by the Medical Examiner’s offi ce, the
NYPD announced on April 27 that the incident was a homicide. No arrests have been
made.
Deadly hit-and-run accident in
Woodside claims boy’s life
Residents in Woodside called for safety improvements aft er Giovanni Ampuero,
9, was struck by a car while crossing the intersection of Northern Boulevard and 70th
Street in Woodside on April 28. Offi cers from the 115th Precinct and EMS responded
to the scene and found Ampuero with severe head and torso trauma. He was pronounced
dead at Elmhurst Hospital. Th e 86-year-old driver, Juan B. Jimenez of West
119th St. in Manhattan, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to
yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care.
Cops fi nd 60 guns in Bayside man’s home
Bayside resident Ronald Drabman, 60, was arrested April 15 for a massive weapons
arsenal in his home located at 58-08 208th St. Police offi cers conducted a search inside
the residence and recovered 45 rifl es, assault rifl es, shotguns, 23 handguns, one zip
gun, two .177-caliber pellet guns and a large quantity of ammunition and high-capacity
magazines. According to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, Drabman didn’t
have a fi rearms license and is not a gun dealer. He wasn’t licensed to sell or to manufacture
fi rearms or ammunition.
