Saturday, June 16
12:00 PM The Lunettes: QUEENS BEE
Young people and their families will step into their roles as the newest
members of an exclusive bee colony in this interactive theater piece. Elite
bee trainers, Bibi and Polli, will guide the hive as they train in preparation to
meet their fearless leader - the Queen Bee!
1:00 PM Queensboro Dance Festival
JCAL proudly presents the Queensboro Dance Festival, featuring a vibrant
array of Queens-based dance companies of all cultures and styles.
1:30 PM Queens Kids Perform!
Showcasing JCAL’s after school students.
2:00 PM Story Pirates: Greatest Hits Show
The Story Pirates Greatest Hits Show celebrates creative writing by
students from coast to coast in a big, hilarious sketch comedy musical
performed by professional actors and musicians. The performance is based
entirely on stories written by elementary school students, and part of the
show is made up on the spot by the kids in the audience! The Story Pirates
will keep you doubled over laughing, all the while motivating kids to pick up
a pencil and write from their own imaginations.
3:00 PM Bangladesh Institute for
Performing Arts (BIPA)
The Bangladesh Institute of Performing Arts (BIPA) works to promote
Bengali arts and language in New York City’s growing multicultural
communities. Join us to enjoy a special musical and dance presentation by
BIPA performers.
4:00 PM NY Hall of Science Presents:
Bounce, Balance, and Play
Test your balancing skills while you discover how balance is related to
sports. Observe the relationship between kinetic and potential energy.

Making music with the Prototype Music’s
young talents! For the past 18 months,
Prototype Music has been active in music, dance,
and community involvement in the neighborhood
of South-East Queens.
1:00 PM Ifetayo Youth Ensemble
JCAL proudly presents the Ifetayo Youth Ensemble (IYE).
Recipient of the 2013 National Arts and Humanities Youth
Program Awards, IYE is recognized for its artistic excellence
through the exploration of social justice issues.
2:00 PM Dance with Sonny Joseph
Sonny Joseph is a multicultural performer and cultural advocate. He will be
performing and presenting Bollywood and Bhangra and show how hip-hop
dance is incorporated into South Asian dance. Learn some Bollywood and
bhangra steps.
3:00 PM The Rally Cat Song Workshop
Write a song for Father’s Day with The Rally Cat band! The Rally Cat is
an energized, multidisciplinary performing arts company dedicated to
empowering artists and communities. In residence at Jamaica Center for
Arts and Learning through June 2019, the company will create and debut
two original full-length works exploring themes of love and identity.

Experiment with various
optical illusions and learn how
the brain can deceive the eye.
Conduct investigations on depth
